When did southwest start doing magical express. In 2011 they did not do that

Hey, Scott! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for flying by with your question. I seriously LUV Southwest and try to fly the magical skies with them whenever possible. Two free checked bags? I'm in! Since Southwest does fly in and out of my local airport, I was very happy when they joined the list of approved airlines for Resort Airline Check-In Service. This has allowed us to easily check in for our flight and even check our luggage to our final destination all before boarding Disney's Magical Express to leave the resort for home.

I am not sure exactly when Southwest joined the list, but the great news is that they are there and you are welcome to use that fabulous Resort Airline Check-In desk. I do want to encourage you to still check in for your flight 24 hours in advance, via the Southwest website or mobile app, so you can get a great boarding position. The morning of your return trip home, the helpful crew at the Resort Airline Check-In desk will be able to print your boarding passes and check your luggage. They are open each day from 5:00 a.m. to noon, and ask that you check your luggage there no later than three hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. Be sure to bring your valid government-issued ID to the desk with you, as you will be required to show it, just like you would at the airport. Your Disney's Magical Express Transportation Notice will be hung on your resort room's door handle the day before check-out, so keep it handy as you will need it to board the motorcoach. Generally, your scheduled motorcoach pick-up time will be three to four hours in advance of your flight.

Thanks for stopping by today and please let us know if you have any other questions about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
