Hi Lois! Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by!
I'm happy to hear you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in just about a month! I'm sure you are eager to finally arrive on-site to start an amazing Disney vacation! It seems like you plan on utilizing
Disney Genie+ at the parks, so let's dive into how this service works.
Disney Genie+ allows you to reserve time slots for select attractions at each park to bypass the standby queue. This gives you the opportunity to maximize your time at the parks instead of waiting in long lines. Disney Genie+ is a paid service that you can only buy on the day of your park visit. You won't be able to purchase it or reserve Lightning Lanes in advance of your trip. To use this service, you'll need to download the
My Disney Experience App to your mobile device and log into your My Disney Experience account. Starting at midnight of your park day, open the app and tap on the purple bar that reads "Disney Genie+ Service." You'll then need to select the Guests in your party that plan to use it, then follow the prompts for payment.
Starting at 7 AM on your park day, you can make your first ride selection of the day. Open up the My Disney Experience App and tap on the three horizontal bars on the bottom right corner of the screen. Then select "Tip Board" followed by the park you will be visiting this day. A list of attractions will be shown below with an option to book this experience. You'll also see an arrival time for each one. Genie+ only provides you with the next available time slot and does not allow you to choose a specific time. Also, you'll only be able to hold one Lightning Lane at a time, unless your arrival window is for later in the day. If this is the case, you can make an additional selection two hours after the official park opening time. Otherwise, once you ride your selection, you can then access the app to choose another.
In addition to Disney Genie+, some attractions are designated as
Individual Lightning Lane rides. These rides are not part of the Genie+ service. To book a Lightning Lane for these attractions, you'll need to purchase an arrival window individually. Prices will vary depending on the attraction and day you are visiting. These attractions are clearly identified on the app and the price per person will be shown under these selections. If you are staying at a Disney Resorts Hotel, you can make these selections starting at 7 AM on your park day. Otherwise, you'll need to wait until the park officially opens to do so.
Lois, I hope this information helps you navigate Disney Genie+ for your upcoming trip!
