How soon to book? looking at coming with family of 5 in June 2012. Prices get better as we get closer or worst? Will I miss out on deals if I book too early? I see free dining and specials for trips booked 2-3 weeks from current date. Help!

Hi Janet! June is a popular month to visit Walt Disney World so if you know you'd like to visit then, you might want to go ahead and reserve a room at a Disney resort hotel. Booking early gives you a broader selection of resort and room type availability. The later you wait to reserve your room, the more likely you'll find that the less expensive room types are booked up. Disney does often offer specials such as room discounts or Free Dining, and these special offers often aren't released very far in advance. If you book a room now, keep an eye on the Special Offers page of the Disney website, and on unofficial pages that track Disney discounts (such as If a special is released for your travel dates, call and see if it can be applied to your existing reservation. You can often apply Special Offers to existing reservations and save lots on your vacation plans!

If you reserve just a resort room now, you'll have the most flexibility since the cancellation policy is less stringent than the one for vacation packages that include tickets and the Dining Plan. If a Special Offer becomes available later but the dates don't exactly match your trip, you'll appreciate having the flexibility to adjust your plans to take advantage of the deal. You can always switch your room-only reservation to a package later when your travel plans are more firm.
