My son’s magic band (he’s 12) is linked to my mother in laws account from when she took him. Is there a way to link it to my account for when I take him?

Hiya Julie, and welcome to planDisney! Connecting Family & Friends to your My Disney account is an essential step, and this is especially true when you will manage plans for a younger guest throughout your vacation. It is incredibly easy to connect with and plan for your son in the My Disney Experience app, and I will gladly walk you through the process.

First, you'll need to connect with your mother-in-law using the Family & Friends List if you're not connected already from a prior visit. You can use the search tool to find her or look through the "Guests You May Know" in order to send an invite to connect. Once you've connected, have her log in to her My Disney account on the Walt Disney World website, hover over her character icon in the top right corner, then click the link to"Account Settings & Preferences." From there, she'll click on "Family & Friends List" on the left hand side and choose your son from the list of managed profiles. She will click "Family & Friends List" again on your son's profile page, then scroll down to find you under the heading that says "Let Your Connections Plan for (Your Son's Name)." When she finds you on that list she can send you an invite that will allow you to manage plans for your son on your upcoming visit. Woohoo!

You can also complete these steps using the My Disney Experience app, but the process will be slightly different. To connect with your mother-in-law, open the app, tap the hamburger menu (≡), then go to your profile. At the top of the next screen, choose "Family & Friends List." Scroll down until you see "Add a Guest," then you can search for her profile. Once the two of you are connected, you may be able to see your son's profile when you select "Add a Guest" in the app. I can see the children of my connected friends and family in the app and could easily add them to be able to manage plans if we were on a group vacation.

If you want to transfer ownership of the managed account from your mother-in-law to you, you will need to get in touch with a Cast Member in App Support to make that change. You can also use the "Chat with Us" feature in the app if you prefer.

That should be everything you'll need to connect with your son's profile for your upcoming vacation, Julie! A November visit is the perfect time to take in the fall vibes at Disney World, and I hope you're making plans to attend the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival or enjoy some family-friendly games and trivia at the all-new Hurly-Burly which is opening October 1st! If you need some suggestions for your itinerary or have last-minute questions, please visit us again at planDisney!

    Stay magical,
    Scott
