My son's HS band is going to WDW in March and he's saved up to build a lightsaber. But if his group's travel is delayed or performance schedule changed less than 24hrs ahead, he's out $200. Are there exceptions in the cancellation policy?

    Bright Suns Dave!

I’m so happy to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You must be excited to spend some time on a galaxy far far away at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Building your own Lightsaber is a delicate process. It requires the power of kyber crystals, the Force, and a dedicated builder. Since Savi’s Workshop is hidden from the First Order, the Gathers there take their cancellation policy very seriously. If a builder is unable to attend the workshop, they must cancel 24 hours prior to their building reservation time to avoid the $199.99 cancelation fee, prices are subject to change. If the builder cancels too late or doesn’t show up, the credit card number provided when booking, will be charged the cancellation fee. Unfortunately, for the safety of all future Jedis from the First Order, there are no exceptions in the cancellation policy.

If you are worried that your son’s schedule may change, I recommend finding a different reservation time for this experience. I like to play it safe when we are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, and since you’re traveling out of the galaxy, I would be even more cautious about time. When my family has any dining reservations, we like to give ourselves at least 1 hour of travel time, to get to our destination. Even the 1 hour feels a little rushed at times with a toddler!

I hope you Travelers have plenty of time to explore the planet of Batuu, if you do I recommend visiting Dock-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. There you can find some of the galaxy’s rarest treasures including kyber crystals, the ones used for Lightsabers.
