Hi Moms! My sons, ages 4 & 6, are big fans of arcades. We are staying at Boulder Ridge. Are there any awesome arcades at Disney World (with tickets and prizes)? What can you tell me about the carnival games at the Boardwalk?

    Welcome BACK, Michelle!

It's great to see you again, and thank you for bringing all of your great Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning questions to us hEAR at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

My own preschool Mouseketeer is also a huge fan of tickets and prizes right now. (Actually his favorite game at a certain arcade chain is the machine that counts your tickets, ha!) While most Disney Resort Hotels do have Arcades & Video Game locations, these are all coin operated non-ticketed games. Some have really cool vintage arcade games that us parents will love, but these aren't the same as what you're wanting.

Disney's BoardWalk does have four carnival style games where you can win prizes (usually stuffed animals) if you do well, and if you play enough you can trade those prizes up to bigger rewards. These games are a water squirting race game, throwing a basketball in a hoop, a clown ball toss, and a really silly one called Lob-A-Lobster where you try to launch beanbag lobsters into rotating cooking pots. The game prices *currently start around $5 but do have the option for more balls/lobsters for a few more bucks. These games are located across from Thimbles and Threads, and usually open in the later afternoon or early evening, right around the time sun sets and the lights of the BoardWalk start to reflect on the water. Don't forget to bring your Resort Refill Mug from your Disney Dining Plan as it can be refilled at BoardWalk Bakery. If you're looking to make a day out of your adventure to this side of the 'World, Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf is walking distance away, and Beaches & Cream Soda Shop with their famous family-size Kitchen Sink Sundae is across the lagoon.

Another fun carnival game location where you don't need to plan a special trip is the Fossil Fun Games in DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park! Similar in style, price and prizes at Disney's BoardWalk, these games are Dino-mite!

I hope this helped to plan your upcoming Disney Days, Michelle, and We'll See You Real Soon!

    ~Kristen
