    My son-in-law is a DoD Civilian. If he purchases park tickets for our family vacation, can I link them to my My Disney Experience (MDE) account? Our rental is through David's Vacation Rentals and I have to link that property to my MDE account.

    Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for connecting with me. It sounds like you are taking advantage of some great ways to save on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I often put together individual components of a trip like this based on our affiliations or special savings; My Disney Experience enables you to do so easily and continue to plan and enjoy your vacation seamlessly. 

    My husband is also a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian, and we often purchase our Magic Your Way tickets at a great rate thanks to this eligibility. Your son-in-law may purchase these in person on base or online through Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) on the Walt Disney World Resort property. Either way, he will receive physical tickets on base or through the mail from Shades of Green. These theme park tickets will have an identification number (ID number) on the back that you can easily connect to your My Disney Experience account (through the Disney website or mobile app).

    On the Walt Disney World website, after you have logged in and navigated to My Plans, you will see a place for Park Tickets at the top of the page. Hover over this icon and select Link Tickets. From there you may enter the ID number and assign to one of your Friends and Family.

    In the My Disney Experience App, select the “hamburger” icon (☰) in the bottom tray and then select the Tickets and Passes tile. You’ll see a menu option to Link Tickets and Passes or select the + at the top right if that banner is hidden. The next option will give you three ways to link your new tickets; please follow the prompts on the screen for the best method for you.

    You can follow a similar process, both on the website or the app, to link your Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation once finalized and confirmed through your rental process. Be sure to select Link Resort Reservation rather than tickets and you should be able to enter the reservation number. In my experience, this rental partner will have formalized your DVC reservation with the DVC owner through a contract for the transaction. The paperwork should have indicated that you enter each traveler’s name exactly as it appears in your My Disney Experience account, and then you will likely find the resort reservation automatically linked for you. If not, please try to link using the confirmation number and then be sure to contact your rental partner if you continue to have issues.

    Once you have the components of your vacation linked in My Disney Experience, you can continue to add plans! Dining reservations may be secured 60 days in advance of your arrival, for the length of your stay given the DVC reservation. I encourage you to become familiar with features in the app that will help you once on vacation, such as Disney Genie Service, menus, and mobile food orders.
