    Hi Heather!

We have something in common; I have a twelve-year-old son too.  Like his mother, he is a huge Disney fan.  I asked his opinion before answering your question this evening.  I thought he may have some valuable insight from the perspective of a tween boy.

When you go to dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, you will find that some people are dressed in costume for the occasion, but there will be plenty of folks (children and adults) who are not.  Your son will not feel self-conscious if he is not in costume.  My son said he would prefer to go in normal clothes, even if he had a sister dressed up as a princess.  If your son wants to become a pirate for the event, by all means, call (407) WDW-CREW and make him an appointment at the Pirates League.  My advice to you would be to ask him what he thinks he will prefer and then honor that.  Pirate or no pirate, I'm sure he'll find dining in Cinderella's Castle wonderful and unique.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about fun for tween boys at Walt Disney World.  I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best wishes to you and your family for a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
