Hi, Maria!
For a fisherman, you couldn't have picked a better destination than the Mexican Riviera! Cabo San Lucas is famous for sports fishing, earning a reputation as the
billfish capital of the world and plays host to marlin-fishing tournaments every year. The
Cabo San Lucas Sports Fishing Port Adventure would be perfect for your son, and as the mom of a 16-year-old son, I would be perfectly content with my son enjoying this adventure on his own. In fact, I wouldn't allow for him to experience any port on his own without being a part of a Disney Port Adventure.
The only caveat is to make absolutely sure that Disney Cruise Line and the tour operator is aware that a minor is participating alone on this excursion before you book it. There are teen-only Port Adventures, but you're going to want to double check for this one. Also, you may want to stop by Guest Services to sign a permission form for him to exit the ship without you. I wouldn't want to get up at the crack of dawn to escort my son off the ship -- and that's usually when fishermen like to get going.
To finalize your cruise reservation, simply apply payment using one or more credit cards, a Disney Gift Card or a
Disney Rewards Redemption/
Visa Card. You may put the reservation on hold (if
available), or you may pay in full or put down a deposit to reserve your vacation. The size of the deposit is determined by the
cost of the cruise. Your full and final payment for stateroom categories
1-3 must be made 90 days prior to departure -- 75 days for stateroom categories 4-12.
I hope all this information gives you the "green light" to book your Disney Mexican Riviera cruise. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
