We want to take our son to WDW right around his third birthday. Are there any perks in doing so?

Yo, Sherri! There's a very nice perk if you take your son before he turns three: he's not required to have a park ticket. And, he can eat off of your plate, which means you can get a lot of mileage out of character buffets.

Other than that, there's the good ol' birthday button that he can sport to notify the World that his birthday is/was near. Cast members (and guests) will go out of there way to put the spotlight on the special boy with joyful greetings and special treatment throughout your stay. On our dining reservations around the time of my birthday last year, we noted my birthday. Each time, I got an extra desert. How's that for awesomesauce?
