My son is 17 and wants to stay at a Disneyland resort by himself before his eighteenth birthday, is that allowed?

    Hi Natania!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I just love helping other New Mexico families plan trips to the Happiest Place on Earth. Your son will have a birthday celebration to remember at the Disneyland Resort. Make sure he grabs a complimentary Birthday Button at City Hall to let everyone know he is celebrating this special day. He may get some special birthday greetings from Cast Members and Characters throughout his stay!

Unfortunately for your son, the minimum age to stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel without a guardian is 18 years old at check-in with proper ID and a credit card on file. He is allowed, though, to enter Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park without a guardian since the minimum age to enter a park alone is 14 years old.

If your son is a Marvel fan, he won't want to miss the exciting attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure Park. Plus he can meet many of his favorite superheroes in Hollywood Land in this park. If he appreciates the classics, then make sure he heads to Disneyland Park for such attractions as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain to name just a few. He can also celebrate his birthday with some delicious one-of-a-kind treats located around both parks like specialty churros or a delicious Dole Whip Float.

I hope this helps, and please feel free to return with any other questions. Until his trip, I hope you both have a Very Merry Un-birthday!
