My son wants to ride Expedition Everest and I am afraid of the unknown. I read there is an 80 foot drop. Can you tell me if it is in the dark or outside the mountain, and is it going forward (I hope) or backward? I need to get psyched up for this ride!!!

    Hi Jaynee,

I have to tell you that I rode Expedition Everest for the very first time on my last trip (a few months ago) because my daughter (who is 10 years old) wanted to try it so badly.  I thought it would have been similar to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith (which is one of my favorite roller coasters as well as Space Mountain), but was I wrong!!!!

Everyone that I know, absolutely LOVES Expedition Everest (so don't count on what I am saying, this was just my personal opinion and others would probably disagree with me).  I had heard so many positive reviews and people saying how great this ride is, but nothing that was said prepared me for the type of ride it turned to be in my mind.  I am pretty sure the big drop you are talking about was outside and going forward, but the whole ride was like a whirlwind, can't remember half the things that happened but I do know that most of it was in the dark.  The ride does go backwards and forwards, outside and inside, but I was not liking the darkness and not knowing what was going to happen next.  It was very fast but my daughter loved it, even though I will probably never go on it again!  I am sure you will probably enjoy it, I just wanted you to know to get prepared for a fast very thrilling ride that goes forwards and backwards with most of it being in the dark.  Have fun, I hope you enjoy it more than I did!

    Best wishes,
