My son wants to propose to his girlfriend in a quieter location as she suffers with bipolar and anxiety. Is there anything we can arrange or a photo package or just anything to make it magical x

    Hi Debbie,

Welcome to planDisney! Congratulations to your son on finding his Anna. Let’s make sure he’s not lost in the woods and has the perfect spot to propose. We are love experts here at planDisney, so I am happy to share some recommendations.

Love is an open door at Disneyland. There are many magical backdrops and enchanting experiences that Disney recommends for engagements, but if your son is looking for a quieter location to propose, I have a couple of spots in mind.

    1) Mickey’s House – This is an indoor character experience in Toontown that is private. After walking through Mickey’s house, guests get to visit Mickey in his home studio. It is a very private interaction, and it is typically just your party and a Cast Member.

    2) Minnie’s House – This is an outdoor character experience in Toontown that is in view of others. Minnie meets guests in front of her house or behind her house by her gazebo. I recommend trying this area earlier in the morning when Toontown is less crowded.

    3) The Royal Princess Hall – This is an indoor character experience in Fantasyland that is private. Your son and his future fiancée would be able to meet up to three different princesses in a round-robin way. A Cast Member will be in each area as you meet and greet each princess.

    4) Abraham Lincoln Theater/The Disney Gallery – This is indoors and can be private. This is usually a place where folks will come to rest their feet, but it is typically not a crowded area. There are a lot of interesting Disneyland memorabilia in the Gallery and the lobby of the theater, and these spaces make for an elegant backdrop.

At these locations your son might be able to secretly ask a Cast Member or fellow guest to help capture the moment. Regarding photo packages, Disney PhotoPass used to offer a “Capture the Moment” package where guests could have a short photo session with a Disney PhotoPass photographer. I recommend inquiring in person if this is still available. The PhotoPass Concierge is located at the Newsstand right outside the Disneyland gates. If this package is not being offered, don’t fret—there are PhotoPass photographers across the park. Your son can use the Disneyland app to check for the locations of photographers. Sometimes a photographer is available at Mickey and Minnie’s house and the Royal Princess Hall. Before taking photos, encourage your son to head to Town Hall afterward and get a “Happily Ever After” button to celebrate the occasion. They make a great keepsake or even a photo prop.

I hope this information was helpful, Debbie. My last recommendation is to have your son get a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the day. This will allow the couple to skip the regular queue for popular attractions during their trip and gives them access to unlimited downloads of all photos taken with a Disney PhotoPass photographer that day. If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to write back to me or one of my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.

    Congrats!
