my son wants to propose at Disneyland any ideas

Hey Tanzania! What an exciting time for your son to be planning his proposal! There’s no better place to propose than at “The Happiest Place on Earth!”

I asked my wife to be my girlfriend almost 14 years ago, right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. We’ve now been married for over 10 years with two Mouseketeers of our own! I’ve seen my fair share of proposals while visiting Disneyland Park. It’s always so Magical and my wife cries every single time. She says it reminds her of us, two kids who fell in love at Disneyland Park. I’ve got some ideas for you and your son and I think it really depends on his style and budget. My first recommendation is pretty easy but still magical. I would definitely, without a doubt, have your son propose in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Fair warning, when he does there will be people clapping, cheering, or if they’re like my wife, be a crying mess. It’s a very special and magical moment.

Make sure that you or someone else is with them on this trip. You all will get in line with one of the Disney PhotoPass photographers to take a picture in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Then when your son and his girlfriend are posing for their picture, you tell the photographer that your son is about to propose. That will be your son’s cue to take out the ring and get down on one knee. The photographer will take care of the rest. I would do this early in the day so that the photographer can spend a bit more time on photos and because your son will be very nervous with a ring in his pocket, I know I was! Your son and future daughter-in-law may not want that attention of everyone cheering and so forth. Your son may only want the two of them there together, sharing in that intimate moment. If so, I would advise him to propose on the right side of Sleeping Beauty Castle by Snow White Grotto with the wishing well. You still get Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background for photos but it’s a much more intimate setting. At times there will be many Disney PhotoPass photographers around Sleeping Beauty Castle, with some located at the sides. Or if done early in the day, I’ve asked the photographers if they would take our family pictures from the side of Sleeping Beauty Castle and they have been happy to do so on several occasions. It’s not guaranteed but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Photography is a big part of who I am. I love what can be done with a camera to capture those magical moments of life. My number one recommendation to make sure that your son's special milestone in his life is captured forever, is to hire a photographer for the special moment. Also, when hiring a photographer, no one else would need to be on the trip if he was planning on just the two of them. I have seen two engagements at Disneyland Park like this where the photographer pops up out of nowhere and captures the special moment. And both times the girl never suspected a thing! After the proposal, it could lead into an engagement session at the park. You’ll have proposal photos and engagement photos to send out the special announcement. I could keep rambling on about ideas but if you leave it to the experts at Disneyland Celebrations & Special Occasions, they’ll have many more ideas and details about the perfect proposal.

Well Tanzania, I hope you found this information useful and please do come back and let us know how the proposal went!

Remember, always believe in the magic!
