Greetings from a galaxy not so far, far away, Samantha!
One of the true joys of bringing a young Padawan to Walt Disney World is watching their face light up when they meet one of their heroes (or villains)! Whether it’s giving Chewbacca a hug or squaring off with Darth Vader himself, those moments are the stuff family memories are made of. One of my fondest memories is when my son met Darth Vader, stuck his arm out true Jedi style, and declared, "I'll use my Force on you!" He was completely wrapped up in the moment, as the line between reality and fiction blurred beyond all distinction. I'll never forget it.
You'll be pleased to know that younglings under 14 are
welcome to wear costumes in the parks, including face masks, as long as the mask doesn’t fully cover the face and the eyes remain visible. If the mesh over your son’s eyes allows Cast Members to see his eyes and doesn’t block his vision, he should be cleared to
meet the Dark Lord himself at Star Wars Launch Bay in
Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Be sure to remind your young Sith apprentice to practice his most intimidating Force pose before the photo. And while the Empire loves a dramatic entrance, it’s always a good idea to keep the mask easily removable, just in case security or Cast Members need a quick look at his true identity. After all, even Darth Vader started as Anakin.
Have a great trip, Samantha. May the Force be with you.
Mike
