Hi, Belinda! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
One of the things that I love most about
Walt Disney World Resort is that they truly go above and beyond to make the magic accessible to everyone. Like you, I also have a son who is on the autism spectrum. My son is a teenager, and while he has a big appetite, he is a very picky eater. He rarely branches out from the food choices traditionally found on most restaurants' kids' menus. When it comes to
Walt Disney World Dining, young Mouseketeers are considered "adults" at the age of 10, so when my son aged out of kids' menus, I also worried about finding something he would be willing to eat. However, I am happy to tell you that we have never had an issue keeping our picky eater happy at a Walt Disney World Resort restaurant.
Accommodations and substitutions at
Walt Disney World Resort restaurants are at the Cast Members' discretion and based on the foods that each restaurant has available in their kitchen. That being said, in my personal experience, restaurant Cast Members have always been wonderful about helping my son find something he would enjoy for his meal. Simply speak to your server to see if they have any suggestions as to what your son could possibly order. Many times, they will be able to make an adult-sized portion of something that is offered on the restaurant's kids' menu or make a plainer version of an adult entree. It is important to note, however, that when a restaurant has a fixed price for a buffet, all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, or prix fixe menu, all Guests ages 10 and up will be charged the adult price, regardless of what they order.
Belinda, if you have additional questions about accommodations for
