Greetings, Amanda!
Welcome back to planDisney! It is so good to see you again with a great planning question. I am thrilled to see you are coming back to the Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate the
50th Anniversary. You will not want to miss seeing
Disney’s Fab 50 Character Collection. There are 50 golden statues spread out amongst all 4 theme parks, paying tribute to the 50 most loved Disney Characters. Can you find them all?
The Walt Disney World Resort goes above and beyond to accommodate Guests with disabilities. The
Disability Access Service or DAS is how Disney can meet the needs of all Guests so they can enjoy the parks in an environment that is comfortable for them. When you are no more than 30 days away from your first park visit, but no less than 2 days away from your arrival, you can
pre-register for DAS, online through a virtual chat with a Cast Member. The chat lines open at 7:00 AM, so I suggest logging in a few minutes early to get ready to request your chat promptly at 7:00 AM sharp. The wait times to chat with a Cast Member can get quite lengthy if you sign in later.
A few things to remember before you sign in to chat. Make sure that everyone in your travel party has a valid theme park ticket and a park pass reservation. Also double-check to make sure everyone is connected on your
My Family & Friends list. Since your son is a minor, you can log in for the chat on your account. Your son will need to be present for the registration process, but you can provide the information to the Cast Member regarding what accommodations will need to be made for him. The Cast Member will also need to take his photo too.
Once your registration is complete, a Cast Member will work with you to select 2 one-hour return times, for select experiences and attractions per day as a part of DAS Advance Planning. You can have up to 12 members of your Family & Friends list on your DAS request list, but only 6 people may take advantage of the DAS return times, the DAS individual, and 5 more members of your party.
When you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort for your trip, you will also be able to use the DAS Same-Day Self-Selection tool in the
My Disney Experience mobile app to request an additional return time for an attraction or experience. You can request another return time in the mobile app after the DAS individual has scanned into the Lightning Lane entrance to experience the previously requested experience.
I hope this helps with your planning. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Disability Services team for any other needs you may have at (407) 560-2547 or by email at disability.services@disneyparks.com.
See ya real soon,
Andrea
