My son uses something similar to a Hatch noise machine/night light at night. Can I bring it onboard? Checked bag or does it have to carry on?

Hi there, Abigail! Welcome to our magical corner of planDisney!

As a mom who’s been sailing with Disney Cruise Line for many years, I absolutely understand the need to bring any comforts from home that we can for our kids. This is especially true for those hard-to-maintain bedtime routines! Cinderella might have sang, “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” but nobody’s heart wishes harder for dreaming than a mom waiting for her kiddos to peacefully fall asleep!

Disney Cruise Line also understands how important it is to keep their guests comfortable and will always try their best to do so, with their utmost safety in mind. Therefore, while items like white noise machines are allowed on board, they must be subject to inspection first.

According to the Disney Cruise Line Prohibited and Restricted Items list, white noise and sleep machines are classified as “Items Requiring Inspection” and will therefore need to be inspected by the Chief Electrical Engineer onboard on the first day of your cruise.

On the first day of your cruise, you will hand over your checked luggage to Disney Cruise Line so they may deliver it to your stateroom later on in the day. With you, you may carry on a bag full of necessities for the day, and anything else you might not want to store in your checked luggage. Since inspecting the white noise machine may cause a delay in the timing of when you receive the checked luggage it is packed in, I suggest packing the Hatch machine in your carry-on baggage for easier handling and inspection.

If you're curious if the Hatch machine will work onboard, I suggest checking the voltage limit to be sure. If you're also narrowing down what to bring, this packing list can be very helpful.

I can tell you, from my experience, both as a guest and mom of young guests, our best sleep ever is usually on a Disney cruise! Between the rocking of the ship, the day’s fun and excitement, and the super comfortable bedding, it’s an extremely restful sleep that I look forward to until my next Disney cruise!

Abigail, I hope you and your family have the most wonderful Disney cruise, and make beautiful memories you will dream about for years to come! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.

    Bon Voyage,
    Rana
