Hi there, Jenny!
Warmest welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with your question!
I am so sorry to hear that your son can no longer accompany you to
Disney California Adventure Park. While canceling his Theme Park Reservation does not trigger a refund, the theme park ticket is valid for a future visit through the end of its expiration date. But, even if your son is unable to visit before the ticket expires, there is still no need to fret! According to
eTicket Terms & Conditions, unless otherwise stated, the amount paid for any wholly unused, expired
Disneyland Resort theme park ticket (with the exception of Special Event Tickets) may be applied towards the purchase of a new theme park admission ticket at the current price. Simply go to a Main Entrance ticket booth when he’s ready to visit and ask a Cast Member to apply the eligible ticket amount towards a brand new ticket purchase.
Also, it's easy to adjust the date if he knows when he would like to visit in the future. To modify his Theme Park Reservations, please log in to your Disneyland Account select "My Disneyland" then click "Ticket and Reservation Details" and select "Make or Modify Park Reservation" for your son’s ticket. You will then be able to book a brand new theme park reservation for his desired date.
Theme Park Reservations are limited and subject to availability. So, please check the
Availability Calendar to make sure his desired date and theme park are accepting reservations for his ticket type on the new date.
I hope this information is helpful! Please head back to planDisney if you have any more questions!
