My son will be two for our Nov trip to WDW and is definitely discovering his independence! I'm looking forward to watching him discover things he didn't when he was more stroller bound. Any tips on getting him back in the stroller without a tantrum?

    Hi Donna!

I laughed out loud when I read this question!  I can't count the number of temper tantrums that I've seen in the theme parks, due to kids not wanting to get back into the dreaded stroller!  Why is it that all two year olds just go limp as a noodle or stiff as a board when you are trying to buckle them back in?  Do they know how maddening it is ???

Naturally, you want to keep the tantrum from happening to begin with!  Try to make a game of finding the stroller after you exit the attraction.  In an effort to clear traffic, the Cast Members often play musical chairs with the strollers and they can be VERY had to find.  Mark his stroller with a bright ribbon to make it easier to distinguish it from the hoards of others.  Try using phrases like, "the first one to the stroller wins!"  Make it seem like a prize that they get to ride along in the stroller - little do they know just how much we would like to jump in!!!

I'm so glad that you are going to let your little guy out to explore - so much is hands on!  Over the years we have used a couple of different tricks to get the kiddos back into the stroller once the breakdown happens.  One such ploy involves the whole family walking off to the side and letting him know that we are all waiting on him to calm down and get into the stroller.  Try to pretend to casually read a brochure or something while he flips out and watch how quickly the tantrum subsides!  Of course, our favorite way is to have my 10 year old pretend that he wants to get into the stroller - hey, I never said it was the "mature way."  Never mess with a two year old's turf!

Remember, you are on vacation too and a little bribery never hurt anyone!!!

    Much pixie dust,
