Hello Carrie! Not long now until your Walt Disney World vacation! You all must be getting so excited! The first step in making your son's birthday extra-special is to pick up a complimentary Happy Birthday button -either at check-in if you're staying in a Walt Disney World Resort, or at Guest Relations at any of the four Theme Parks. He can wear his button during your entire trip, and he may get special recognition from the Cast Members who see it! For a very special pirate-themed experience, make an appointment for him at
The Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom. He'll be transformed into his choice of 5 pirate "looks", given an official pirate name and at the end, he'll receive a special surprise. If you would like, costumes, hats and portraits can also be purchased along with the make-over, but are not required. Once he has been transformed, he'll be invited to participate in a Parade of Pirates, which takes place in Adventureland, weather permitting, later in the day. That is sure to be a memorable experience! Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling 407-WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529). Finally, be sure to let the host/hostess know you are celebrating a birthday every time you check in at a Table Service Restaurant. While not guaranteed, they will often sing a song or present him with a small cupcake. You can also request a small 6 inch birthday cake when you arrive at a Table Service restaurant as well. You don't need to let them know in advance, just when you check in, and there is a nominal charge.
Carrie, I hope your son has an amazing birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth! Enjoy your vacation and have a magical day!
