My son will be turning 3 during our vacation to Disney World next year. He will be 2 when we get there. Do we need to buy him an after hours ticket, because he will technically be 3 on that but it's within our vacation?

How ya doin', Amanda, and welcome to plan Disney!

Your little one couldn't be celebrating the big 3 in a more magical place than the Walt Disney World Resort. I'm sure Mickey and all his friends can't wait to see the birthday boy.

As you know, little ones under 3 years old are personal Guests of The Head Havarti and don't need a ticket for entry. Once the clock strikes midnight on your son's birthday, however, he officially becomes a Disney kid and will require a ticket for all park entry. If he'll be 3 at the time of the Disney After Hours Event during your trip, he'll officially need a ticket.

Pro-tip: Since y'all are celebrating, be sure to grab a birthday pin from Cast Members at your resort or at Guest Relations. Everyone will be able to see that there's a party going on!

Amanda, have a lovely time celebrating your little Mouseketeer. If you have any other questions, I'm happy to help.

    Happy planning!
