My son turned 1 on 3/19 and I wanted to take his 1st trip to MK in late April. My husband is concerned whether he is old enough to enjoy it. Can you give us suggestings of things he would be able to do and maybe something to make his first trip special?

    Hi Melissa,

Thanks for writing.  I've been bringing both of my children to Walt Disney World since before their first birthdays.  While they may not remember our earliest vacations, I have amazing memories and incredible photographs to prove that they had a wonderful, whimsical time.  There are many, many attractions at all of the parks where your tiny tot can ride on your lap or right beside you and enjoy incredible colors, sights and music.  Disney is an adventure for the senses for its smallest visitors!  My boys loved It's a Small World, Journey into Imagination, The Seas with Nemo, Disney Junior Live and Affection Section when they were tiny.  (This is by far not a comprehensive list of attractions your son can ride, but rather a sample of some of our favorites when my boys were one.)  As for making his first trip special, I don't think  you'll need to do much!  A free "First Visit" pin is a great start.  Pick one up at Guest Relations at whichever park you visit first. My boys loved getting giant Disney balloons and keeping them tied to our stroller throughout our stay.  You can find an assortment on Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom.  A character meal, where you and your family can get up close and personal with some of Disney's finest characters while enjoying a great meal is another fun way to celebrate a first trip. Chef Mickey's is "the" quintessential character meal in my opinion.  You can make reservations up to 180 days before you arrive by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

    Happy Planning!
