Hi Catherine! Welcome to planDisney!
Your visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort is fast approaching! I'm sure you and your family are ready for an early summer holiday! There are a ton of new experiences to be excited about for your upcoming stay, many of them can be found at
EPCOT alone. The France Pavilion has seen the most changes with the addition of
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and
La Crêperie de Paris. It's a beautiful area to walk around and is located behind the main area of the pavilion. The new nighttime spectacular, Harmonious, started back in October for the
50th Anniversary Celebration and is shown each night as long as the weather holds up. I would make seeing this show a priority on your visit. The music, fireworks, and projections all combine to make this show truly magical!
Space 220 Restaurant has been the most talked-about new dining location, and for very good reason. It hits on all notes, from the ambiance, storytelling, and of course the food! Where else can you dine with a view of the Earth outside of the window! For both the lunch and dinner menus, the price for adults and children is a fixed price. Since your son has hit the magic age of 10, he is considered a Disney adult. He will however be able to order off the children's menu if he desires but will be charged at the adult price. I have seen certain restaurants increase the portion size of the children's menu item to help justify the cost, but this is dependent on the location. It doesn't hurt to explain your situation to your server and let them know the circumstances, as Disney pixie dust is known to be tossed around from time to time.
In addition to the restaurant, you can also make Advanced Dining Reservations at the
Space 220 Lounge. This area of Space 220 has an à la carte menu with small bites and appetizers. Children are allowed in this area and you can order the prix fixe meals as well. It's a great alternative if not everyone was sold on a large meal but still wanted to experience the restaurant. A separate dining reservation is required specifically for the Lounge, so you can not change your mind upon arrival.
Catherine, I hope you enjoy your dining experience at Space 220! The elevator ride alone is worth the price of admission!
See ya real soon!
