Hi Karen!
Could you be sailing on the
Disney Fantasy for that 9-night Southern Caribbean itinerary? WOW! That one looks absolutely incredible with stops in St. Maarten, Dominica, Antigua, St. Thomas, and
Castaway Cay.
I can SEA why you want your kids to be able to seize the moment from the very first day onboard to make new friends in the
Youth Clubs. My son had so much fun at that age with having multiple options of places he could hang out on the ship. He liked the older crowd at Edge, but he also preferred some of the art and games in
Oceaneer Club.
As you know,
Edge is the tween club onboard and custom made for kids ages 11-14, and
Vibe is the teen club onboard for ages 14-17. Sounds like you are hopeful that your two kiddos can both go into Edge together even though your son will not yet be 11 when the cruise begins. With parental permission and a quick chat with the counselors in the clubs, I would say that your almost 11-year-old could possibly be allowed to participate since he will have a sibling in that same club.
The ultimate call is up to the Youth Club staff, but I’ve found that letting them chat with your kid to see their maturity level and asking nicely goes a long way! And it totally makes a difference if your kiddo wants to do that club because of a sibling or a friend. My son was just shy of 14 when we sailed on the Disney Wonder to Alaska, and he really wanted to join his sister in Vibe. After a quick chat with the Youth Counselors, they updated his Key to the World card to allow him access to this teen hangout.
Hopefully your two will be able to have a blast together in Edge and make lots of friends during your adventure at sea. Please come back to planDisney if you’d like more cruise tips before your sun-sational voyage!
Happy Sailing!
