    My son and I will be traveling on the Disney Wonder to Alaska. We wish to travel light and casual. Other than the Palo restaurant, are dress up clothing recommended or required for any events, activities or restaurants?

    Hi Vivian!

    Alaskan cruises are so beautiful!  In the summer, temperatures in Alaska range from 60 to 80 degrees.  Evenings and mornings are cooler, ranging between the 40s and 50s. 

    To be comfortable in Alaska in August you need to dress in layers.  The day will start out chilly and warm up considerably.  For Port Adventures you'll need comfortable shoes for walking, if you are hiking; boots.  Make sure that you pack a rain jacket or umbrella because it can rain at any time.   Your pools will be heated so take your bathing suit with you.  Remember, dress code is mostly cruise casual unless it's formal night or you are dining at the adults only restaurant, Palo.  See my tips below.  7 night cruise schedule:
    • First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops(keep it to neutral colors that you can mix and match)
    • 3 additional "cruise casual" nights
    • One pirate or tropical night (deck party) Informal...my husband wore nice shorts and a polo to this dinner.
    • One formal and one semi-formal night — formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.  (take one black/neutral color dress along with different accessories such as scarves and jewelry to change up the look)

    The dress code at Palo on all cruises is:
    • Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket (tip: don't take a jacket, takes too much space...have him wear a tie with his shirt and pants)
    • Women: dress or pantsuit
