Hi Kelly, welcome to planDisney!
I'm so glad you're planning a November visit to Walt Disney World Resort with your son. In my experience, Disney magic is best experienced with family and friends. It's nice to have someone to turn to when I exclaim, "Did you see that?!" at least one hundred times each park day. It's even better to have someone to cling to while riding the Haunted Mansion. The best part about experiencing the magic with others, though, is having shared memories to talk and laugh about for years to come.
Let's talk tech. Take a look at the
Family and Friends list of your My Disney Experience account. This list can also be viewed in the
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> scroll down and click "My Profile" --> click the "Family and Friends List" tab). Do you see your son's name? I'm pretty sure the answer is "yes" because you mentioned seeing your son's ticket in the "Tickets and Passes" section of the app. As long as your son's name appears on your Family and Friends list, Kelly, you are all set to view and make plans for each other throughout your park days. Specifically, you can make theme park and dining reservations for each other, purchase
Disney Genie+ service and book Lightning Lane attractions for each other, and join the
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind virtual queue together. Each of these processes has a step where you confirm your party. When booking a Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction, for example, all members of your Family and Friends list with valid admission, a theme park reservation, and Disney Genie+ service can be added to your party.
The reason why your son's name doesn't appear on the
Disney MagicMobile section of the app is that it's best for individuals with their own My Disney Experience accounts to create their own Disney MagicMobile passes. In my app, for example, I can only create Disney MagicMobile passes for myself and my children whose account profiles are managed by me. My husband and I have no trouble making park plans for each other because we are connected as Family and Friends, but he's in charge of his own method of entry (MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card). Valid admission, a
theme park reservation for each park day, and a method of entry are currently required for theme park entry.
I hope this information helps set your mind at ease, Kelly. You're doing all the right things to ensure your family has a magical vacation. Dare I say, you are the magic!
Plan magic; planDisney.
