Hi Stephanie, and welcome back to planDisney! We’re so happy you’ve returned with another great question. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate your son’s third birthday than at the Most Magical Place on Earth! My son’s first Disney vacation was a couple of weeks before he turned three, and even though he is in college now, I have the most cherished memories of seeing all of the magic through his little eyes.
The good news is that until your son turns three, he is a guest of Mickey and will not require theme park admission. However, once that magical birthday arrives, the policy states he’ll need both a theme park ticket (except when tickets are purchased as part of a vacation package) and his own ticket for special after hours events like
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Therefore, while your package will cover his admission for regular park days, he'll still need a ticket for the Halloween party.
To celebrate his birthday, be sure to pick up his complimentary birthday button from your resort hotel or Guest Relations! My favorite spot to get a birthday or celebration button though is
Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. For a small fee, you can have a button personalized with his name and artistic details of his choice. It is an amazing (and inexpensive!) souvenir.
Stephanie, I’m sending pixie dust and wishes for a magical birthday celebration for your little guy! If you have any more questions as you put the finishing touches on your vacation planning, be sure to
come back and see me. I love helping plan visits that are “practically perfect in every way!”
See you on Main Street,
Casey
