Bright suns, Gloria! If your son is like mine, finding they want anything other than video gaming gift cards for Christmas feels like holiday magic! And then they ask for an extremely rare lightsaber...
The Gungi lightsaber was carried by a Wookie named Gungi, who we met in the Clone Wars. Gungi was raised on Kashyyyk, a forest planet. Unlike most sabers built of metal, Gungi crafted his from wood as an homage to his home. This is the only all-wood hilt currently known in the Star Wars universe. (I say "currently" because we continue to learn more about worlds in the galaxy far, far away).
Now, where to buy one? I have heard these hilts were recently spotted at
Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities in
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Dok-Ondar has a talent for collecting the rarest items for his store, but, like all hard-to-find and coveted items, they seem to disappear quickly.
I hope you are headed to
Disney's Hollywood Studios before the holidays in hopes of finding one, but I know we can't always get there as often as we like. I checked the
Disney Store for limited-edition items to see if they are available for people who do not have galactic travel on their itinerary. Sadly, I did not have any luck.
Gloria, I hope this is helpful and you can make your son's Christmas and Star Wars wishes come true! Or he discovers
Count Dooku's lightsaber hilt has a rare bend that makes it really cool. We picked this up for my son's best friend last year at Dok-Ondar's shop when he couldn't get to the parks, and now it is available online.
May the Force be with You!
