My son purchase Disney theme park tickets for his birthday but his sibling surgery is the same day. What are his options?

Hi Nadia! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

I've got good news for you: Your son's Disneyland Resort admission tickets if wholly unused can be modified to any available date so the theme park reservation falls on a new date that doesn't conflict with family issues. While admission tickets currently purchased through Disneyland Resort include a theme park reservation, that reservation is not cast in stone. You don't need to be King Arthur to work that magic. I can walk you through the modification process.

Navigate to My Theme Park Reservations. For the theme park reservation you'd like to change, select "Modify Reservation" and select the members of the party whose date is being changed. If it is all of the members of the party who will be adjusting their date, you'll choose "Select All." Choose the new date from among the available theme park reservations displayed on the calendar. These are subject to availability, which can change. If the preferred date or park isn't available, check back! People's plans change like your son's plans have, and it can result in even last-minute availability. Then, select the theme park. If it is a Park Hopper, you'll be selecting the park you'd like to begin your day in. Review modifications and click continue. Your son should receive an e-mail confirming the changes with a new confirmation number.

It's that easy! A couple of steps and your son can begin to look forward to his new trip date and plan.

One additional bit of information: Disneyland Resort theme park admission tickets never lose their value so long as they are wholly unused. Even if your son wouldn't be able to visit prior to the expiration date listed, he can always apply their value to the purchase of new tickets by paying the difference since prices do change over time.

I hope that's the peace of mind you need, especially with a family surgery approaching. And when your son is able to visit, I hope he has a lot of fun celebrating.

    Have a magical day.
