Welcome to planDisney, Jennifer! Before you know it, your son will be shooting hoops at
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and hopefully getting to spend a little time off the court exploring the theme parks, water parks, and other resort areas at the Most Magical Place on Earth! You're going to have such an amazing time cheering for your young athlete surrounded by Disney magic!
At this time, Disney Resort hotels do not offer regularly scheduled transportation to and from the ESPN Complex; however, I can offer you a few suggestions to help you make your way to the tournament without worry! First, if you are traveling on a hotel travel package booked through a third-party event organizer, they will sometimes schedule shuttle bus service to and from events at the ESPN Complex. This has been my experience when visiting with my daughter for recent cheerleading competitions. If they are not offering transportation options and you have a personal vehicle, there is ample, complimentary parking at the complex for visitors. If you do not have a personal vehicle, rideshare options such as Uber or Lyft will be your best bet. You can also utilize the
Minnie Van Service powered by Lyft since you will be traveling on Disney property. My friend
Susan has attended events at the complex already this year and assures me that there is plenty of signage for rideshare pickup and dropoff locations to make your arrival and departure seamless!
Since we're talking transportation and you'll be staying as a Guest at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, when you have some time away from the tournament, you will be able to find complimentary
Disney bus service,
Disney Monorail service, or
Disney Skyliner service between your hotel and other Disney destinations. If you're utilizing the bus service, I always recommend taking a look at the Bus Wait Times under the Hotel Reservation feature in your My Disney Experience mobile app before you head out for the day so you can plan your day with less waiting at the bus stop!
One other perk I love to mention for on-site Guests is the
Early Theme Park Entry benefit, which allows you into the theme parks 30 minutes before opening every single day! This is a great way to beat the crowds (and the July afternoon heat!) to tackle one or two of your favorite attractions with lower wait times! And since it will be summer, I recommend taking a splash at
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park if you have the time! Your son can grab his teammates for a plunge down Miss Adventure Falls while you relax and unwind in the Castaway Creek lazy river. If you're up for some thrills, don't skip the Crush 'n' Gusher water coaster!
I'm wishing your son the best of luck at his tournament and I hope you and he make many magical memories together! If I can help with any other questions, or if you'd like any other tips or recommendations, come on back and
let me know! I'll be there in July too, so as they say, we're all in this together!
Go Team!
