Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms panel, Tricia! Thanks for stopping by with your question.
I love that you're thinking ahead as to what will help your day at
Magic Kingdom Park and
Disney's Animal Kingdom go smoothly. I currently have a 7-year-old son as well so I understand your conundrum about using (
or not using) a stroller.
In "real life" we never use a stroller anymore and can't imagine rewinding the clock to the toddler days of using it daily. However, at the Walt Disney World Resort, those daily living rules don't apply. While every child and every family is different, if you're unsure, I recommend
renting a stroller. I have found that the stroller allows our kids an option to take breaks from walking and avoids exhaustion... and therefore, meltdowns. It also provides a spot to store extra bags, popcorn buckets and merchandise since
wagons and carts are not allowed.
If you decide to rent a stroller, you have a few options. If you are staying at a
Disney Resort Hotel and want one that will stay with you all day,
ScooterBug is the featured provider. This company will deliver directly to your Disney Resort Hotel and there are multiple models for you to choose from. Since you have an older child, make sure to
check the recommended weight limit before finalizing your selection.
If you are only thinking you'll need the stroller in the parks, you can rent one before you start touring the park and then simply return it prior to leaving.
Tricia, I hope this helps as you are deciding how to approach the day with your son. Wishing you a pixie-dusted vacation and THE BEST DAY EVER! Come on back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you might have.
