Hi Kelli! Thanks so much for coming to visit us here at planDisney! We just love helping out fellow Guests plan their days at the Happiest Place on Earth. I see that your trip is just a few days away - you must already be feeling some of that extra special Disneyland magic!
Very happy to report that
upgrading a single-day ticket to a
Magic Key just takes a quick wave of a magic wand. I just did it myself last month! Since we are so close to your arrival date, you likely already have your
theme park reservations in place. When you upgrade, it's considered a brand new ticket, and reservations do not transfer. My recommendation would be to hold off on making any changes ahead of time so that your son doesn't lose the reservation he is holding. While he can visit the Main Entrance Ticket Booth upon arrival and work with a Cast Member directly to upgrade, the easiest way might be to wait until your son has scanned into the parks on his arrival day. Once he is within the gates, open up the
Disneyland Mobile App to the "Tickets and Passes" section and a new option to upgrade will appear. He will have until the clock strikes midnight to make the upgrade and can even do it while standing in line for his favorite attraction! It's very user-friendly and with just a few quick taps, a year of magic is in his hands!
Now that you both have the keys to the kingdom, there is so much pixie dust at your fingertips! Eating and shopping are two of my favorite Disneyland past times and you'll be able to take full advantage of the many Magic Key
discounts across the resort. Take a little break and grab a bite or a signature cocktail at the
Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure Park - a little oasis just for key holders. If reservations aren't available, know that Guests are constantly changing their plans and they may pop up last minute! I know my
fellow panelist Carrie was able to snag a reservation the morning of her visit!
You'll also be visiting on the very first day of the
Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure Park! I was so happy to see this making a grand return this year - it's a joyful celebration of Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean cultures filled with music, food and some very special character appearances. Hop on over to enjoy the festivities for the year of the tiger ... or TIGGER for us Disney fans!
Kelli, I hope you found this helpful in your planning! If any other questions pop up, please reach out to us again. We are always here for you at
planDisney!
Keep wishing on those stars,
Tara
