Hi there Christina,
Welcome back to planDisney and thanks so much for your question. OH BOY do I relate to this one! Both my son and I tend to get
hangry if we miss eating something for the best meal of the day (at least, in my opinion!). It sounds like, similar to your son, usually quick carbs aren't enough to sustain us either - it needs to be something with a bit of protein. Therefore, I'm happy to report that you're in good hands!
Let me then walk you through some of my favorite spots for a quick protein pick-me-up when the park opens (with a special spotlight on eggs).
If you're starting your day in Disneyland Park, while
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is a fantastic choice, it can sometimes get a bit crowded (though you could try a Mobile Food & Beverage Order!), but I actually love heading to
Galactic Grill - I love the
American Breakfast Burrito. In my experience, this choice tends to be far less busy than those more obvious options on
Main Street, U.S.A. Additionally, if you don't need an option right at park opening, you could head to
Red Rose Taverne for some great protein-packed options as well. The
Bonjour! Breakfast is a great standard breakfast option with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a croissant.
If instead, you're heading to Disney California Adventure Park, our family's absolute favorite option is
Pym Test Kitchen! It has some delicious options (my favorite is the Calculated Breakfast) and if you plan on eating the food there at the outdoor patio, you have the added bonus of looking for all your favorite superheroes as they start their day. Alternatively, you could stop by
Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe for some great breakfast sandwich options.
Hopefully that loads you up with some delicious protein options, Christina, and keeps
Joy at the helm of your son's Headquarters - as opposed to Anger taking over the controls! Thank you again for your question and have a fantastic visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
