Hello. My son and I will be meeting my parents in February at Disney. They will be in Florida for a Cruise and then meet us. I want to do a little something to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Any ideas? We are only there for 3 nights and 2 days in parks.

Hi there Katie and welcome to planDisney!

First of all, I'd like to wish a huge congratulations to your parents as they embark on their cruise in celebration of the past 50 years! Now as someone who has spent the past few years researching ways to celebrate romantic milestones as I planned my Disney Fairy Tale Wedding, there's really no better place than a Disney destination to honor each Happily Ever After. Whether you're considering experiences within the theme parks or elsewhere on Walt Disney World Resort property, I am delighted to bestow upon you my best recommendations and ideas for you to commemorate this very special occasion for them:

    • One of the best experiences that I always recommend is a personal Capture Your Moment session within the theme parks, which you can book as a family photo portrait session that ends up being a special romantic anniversary shoot for your parents! The Disney PhotoPass photographers assigned to these sessions even have special props for the occasion and the resulting photos would be great keepsakes to capture this special time together.
    • Another great way to dazzle them at the end of a day at the theme parks is attending a special Dessert Party that includes reserved space to watch the very appropriate Happily Ever After fireworks in Magic Kingdom Park. There are currently options where you can enjoy these sweet treats, cheeses and even a selection of beer and wine either before or after the fireworks, depending on what you think your parents would enjoy best!
    • If they're only meeting you for a part of the day or in the evening, there are other ways to enjoy these fireworks that can include chartering a private boat for a specialty cruise that lets you enjoy a gorgeous sunset with snacks before settling into a perfect spot ahead of the nighttime spectacular for some unforgettable VIP-viewing from the water. Another fireworks-viewing option outside of the theme parks that tends to be a bit more of an occasion to dress nicely for is Celebration at the Top - Sip, Savor, Sparkle that takes place within California Grill atop Disney's Contemporary Resort; I've personally enjoyed being able to enjoy the stellar vantage point overlooking Magic Kingdom Park from the outdoor viewing platform and feeling the force from each burst of the fireworks!
I hope that these suggestions and ideas are things that could inspire you as you seek to make the most out of their Anniversary celebration - and be sure to pick up a "Happily Ever After" button from a Guest Relations Cast Member for each of them when they visit!

Wishing your parents the most amazing 50th Anniversary at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
