Hey, hey Anjanette and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. This question is very meaningful to me as my son followed the Low FODMAP diet. We were so concerned he would not be able to eat but then I remembered this one thing: Walt Disney World Resort is the place where dreams come true. All chefs are ready and willing to accommodate allergies and other inflammatory foods for any Guest. This is what makes a Walt Disney World Resort vacation the best.
I suggest you look at the menus of the restaurants you would like to visit. If the menu has foods your son will eat but you are unsure how they are prepared then speak with the chef once you get there. If there are specific edible irritants then create a card to hand to the chef so they can see exactly what to avoid in preparation and seasoning of food. Please be patient as it may take a few minutes for the chef to come out. When the chef arrives, explain what you need. For Low FODMAP Guests like my son, he needed to avoid garlic, onions, wheat, and any fermenting foods. Be kind and direct. One day we chose to eat at Columbia Harbor House at Magic Kingdom Park. We ordered steamed green beans, rice and baked salmon with no spices. We had to wait close to 30 minutes for the meal and he loved it! For Table Service locations requiring a
dining reservation, I suggest contacting
Special Dietary Requests at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to pre-arrange meals for your son. They are fantastic.
Disney Dad Tip: There are snacks available around the theme parks such as the "Enjoy life" brand cookies and a variety of potato chips. We also packed our own Low FODMAP approved snacks for him to munch on.
Anjanette, I hope this helps you and your son make many delicious and Magical Memories.
