My son loves to cook. Is there anything that we can do at the parks that would allow him some sort of backstage pass to a kitchen/cooking meet and greet with a chef from one of the Disney restaurants? I would love for him to be surprised!!

Hi Rachel! Thanks so much for your question.  Like most people, one of my very favorite parts of a visit to Walt Disney World is the food.  I’m excited to tell you about an amazing experience that I think your son is going to love. It’s called the Disney Family Culinary Adventure.  It is held twice weekly at 5 p.m. at  Disney’s Contemporary Resort and is a chance for Guests ages 9 and older to discover the magic behind the amazing food of Walt Disney World.  It is a chance to spend time with the Disney chefs in a hands- on, five-course interactive cooking (and tasting!) experience.  In a massive catering kitchen, each Guest (no more than 30 total) puts on an apron, hat and gloves and participates in food prep as they work together to create a meal as perfect as any Walt Disney World meal you have yet to try.  And in case you are in need of specific dietary consideration such as vegetarian or vegan foods as well as menu items for Guests with food allergies, are all options for this event. You can read more about the specifics of this fun, festive culinary experience on the Disney Parks Blog or for more information and to book call 407-WDW-PLAY (939-7529).

I wish I could be there with you to see the look in your son’s eyes as he has this amazing backstage experience with the Disney chefs!  One of the greatest parts of Walt Disney World as a parent is seeing your child have an amazing, memorable time, isn’t it?  (I have eight children and that’s what I love the most, too!)  This Disney Family Culinary Adventure will be right at the top of his list of amazing Disney moments for him. I just know it!

Have a really magical vacation and please stop back by if we can help you with any additional planning.
