My son would like to make a lightsaber at Savi’s work shop. We are traveling from out of state, would we be able to ship the lightsaber home from Disney? How much does that generally cost? Does it take a long time to receive the lightsaber back? Thank you

Hi there, Maria, and welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like the Force is strong with your young Padawan, and I couldn’t be more excited for his upcoming experience at Savi’s Workshop. Building a lightsaber is a rite of passage in the Star Wars galaxy, and it’s even more meaningful when shared with family right there in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.

I checked in with a Cast Member for you, and unfortunately, ship-to-home services from Savi’s Workshop ended back in February. But don’t worry, there are still a few ways you can get that lightsaber safely back to your home planet.

Many Disney Resorts Collection hotels offer assistance with shipping if you bring a pre-paid, pre-labeled package via carriers like UPS or FedEx. Stop by the front desk or concierge during your stay to check if this service is available.

Resorts with business centers, such as Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort, usually offer more robust shipping options. These are especially handy for fragile or bulky souvenirs that need a little extra care.

If you’ll be heading to Disney Springs during your visit, be sure to stop by the Marketplace Co-Op. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, with a dedicated shipping location where you can send your Disney treasures home. It’s perfect if you’re wrapping up your day there and want a convenient option for both shopping and shipping.

And of course, there’s always what I like to call the “extra suitcase method.” If you have room in your luggage or can bring an additional suitcase, you can pack your lightsaber and other purchases yourself and check the bag on your flight home. It’s often cost-effective and lets you control exactly how your items are packed.

While you’re exploring Disney’s Hollywood Studios, don’t miss the chance to sample some of the park’s amazing eats. For a sweet treat, swing by Woody’s Lunch Box for a seasonal Lunch Box Tart or stop at the Market near Animation Courtyard for Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie—warm, gooey, and perfect for sharing (or keeping all to yourself!). And if you're craving something more filling, Dockside Diner has great savory options to keep you fueled up for your adventures.

Maria, I hope this gives you some helpful options for getting that treasured lightsaber home safely. If you have any more questions about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or anything else as you plan your trip, feel free to send another transmission our way. I’m always happy to help!

May the Force be with you,
    Brent
