How wonderful that you and your son are headed to Walt Disney World! It has always held a dear place in my heart, but evenmoreso because of how well Walt Disney World works with guests who need special attention. We celebrated our parents' 50th wedding anniversary several years ago; and even though my mom was confined to a wheelchair with limited use of her hands, she experienced the same trip as we did. The cast members treated her with dignity and care as they helped her into Disney transportation as well as all of the attractions she wanted to enjoy (she opted not to do ride the intense attractions!). In addition, my parents' resort room was wheelchair accessible, so there were not any problems there either.
For your son, Walt Disney World does offer
Services for Guests with Visual Disabilities as well as Accommodations for Guests with Disabilities. If you would like to discuss the accommodations for a specific need, please call (407) 939-7675. If your son needs any medical supplies during your trip, you may find it easier to send them ahead to your resort to simplify your travel. Also, if your son were to need medical assistance during your vacation, First Aid is readily available throughout all of Walt Disney World. You might also want to read about the
Disability Access Service before your trip to see if that would be helpful for your son.
While there aren't any discounts available for guests with disabilities, there are
Special Offers available to everyone that might work for you. A reputable travel agent can also help you to locate them, too.
Wishing you and your son a magical trip!
