Hello I have a son that has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and we are planning a visit to both parks on 4/1 and 4/2 unfortunately my son cannot stand for too long and I was wondering what Disney can help us with. In regards to that can you please e Mail me

    Hiya, Guadalupe!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney! One of the reasons I love visiting the Disney Parks is their dedication to ensuring that all Guests (no matter their needs) are able to experience the magic. I’ll be happy to dive into the resources and accommodations available to ensure that you and your family have the most magical time! Let’s get started.

Theme park days can be long. If standing for long periods of time is a challenge, Guests have the option of bringing their own mobility device or renting one at the park. Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) and manual wheelchair rentals are available at the Stroller Shop. The Stroller Shop is right outside the theme parks, east of the Disneyland Park Main Entrance.

If this is an option that sounds right for your son, please keep in mind that these ECVs and wheelchairs may not be reserved in advance. Your family will need to arrive early as they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, rentals must be returned at the end of each park day.

Because you mentioned that you all will be visiting for multiple days, a length-of-stay rental may suit your needs better. If you are staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels, you can pre-order a mobility rental through Disney’s Featured Provider, ScooterBug. They will deliver the mobility device to you at your hotel, and this would eliminate the hassle of waking up early to secure a rental at the park each day.

Bonus Tip: Before your visit, review the Accessibility Planning Guide and Recommendations. I believe you will find the Accessing Attraction Queues section (pages 15-17) particularly helpful. It provides tips and techniques to make your ride wait times more comfortable. This resource is in the form of a PDF, but a webpage version is available as well.

Guadalupe, I hope this helps and that you and your family have a wonderful time during your upcoming adventure to Disneyland. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to come back and see us here at planDisney. We are always happy to help!

Sending you faith, trust, and pixie dust,
