Hi there our son is 40 inches, which is the height requirement for splash mountain, however he is only 3.5 years old, so we wondered if anyone has taken their young child to this attraction & if they enjoyed it. Thanks a lot

    Hi, Tracey!

    Great question!

We've taken our children, nieces and nephews on Splash Mountain as soon as they make the height requirement and they have all been fine, no matter how young.

The story behind the attraction is Disney's Song of the South, and the characters and scenes you'll see as you cruise through it are all very pleasant and family-friendly. In fact, the darkest feature I've seen is the animatronic vultures which sit above Guests' heads right before a big drop. I just don't draw little ones' attention to them or, if they look up, we comment on how funny those birds are, wearing hats!

We play down the big drop, which is easy to do because after a splash and a dose of sunshine, Guests head right back into another indoor portion of the attraction, where they'll hear "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" and help to celebrate Brer Rabbit's return home. Focus on the fun of the story, and all of the laughing that takes place throughout the attraction, and I'm sure your son will have a blast!

You might even head on over to YouTube and show your son some video clips of the attraction, or find some clips of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" or "Everybody Has a Laughing Place" so that he's even more excited to see characters and hear songs he recognizes. That way, it's not about The Drop.

Plus, this is a family favorite way of cooling off early on a warm summer day; it's a must-do, now that you all can do!

Send more questions as you think of them, Tracey! We love to help!
