Can my son go by himself in the Disney VIP tour? He’s 16 and he wanted, as a gift, to go alone on the VIP tour.

Welcome to planDisney, Frederico! It sounds like your son has a fantastic idea for an epic birthday gift - a Disney Private VIP Tour offers a personalized itinerary and superior service from your own personal tour guide to experience magic in a unique way!

Frederico, I've never had the opportunity to experience a VIP Tour at Disney, but I did some research into the terms and conditions, and it states that guests on the tour under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a paying participant or guardian, so at 16 years old, your son would not be able to attend a VIP Tour completely on his own. These tours also state that they can accommodate up to 10 guests and must be booked for a minimum of 7 hours.

While this might not be the news that you (or your son) had hoped for, there is an alternative tour, Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour, that offers guests a behind-the-scenes look at Magic Kingdom Park. This guided walking tour lasts 5 hours and reveals some little-known facts and details about Walt Disney World that are sure to delight any Disney fan. The minimum age for this tour is 16 years old, with no adult required to accompany an eligible guest of this age. While this would be a group tour with other guests, your son could participate in this tour independently of your travel party.

Frederico, I'd encourage you to take a look at the details of both of these opportunities to see which one best fits your son's ideal birthday gift. It may be worth waiting one more year if the VIP Tour is what he really wants to experience. There are also some other great Enchanting Extras that might peek his interest, such as the Starlight Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Wild Africa Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park (both of these do also require guests under the age of 18 to have an accompanying adult participant, however).

I hope this is helpful in making your son's birthday extra special! If you have any other questions before your visit, come on back to planDisney and let us know! We're VIPs here too (very interested panelists - interested in helping guests like you!) and can't wait to help you plan your own magic!

    See you real soon,
    Alison
