Hi, Megan! Thanks for bringing another question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Walt Disney World Resort’s
Disability Access Service is a tremendous benefit for Guests with a wide range of disabilities. We have used the Service for my stepson who is
on the Autism spectrum, and it has definitely made our time in the Theme Parks with him much more manageable.
With the Disney Parks’ new
stroller guidelines, though, I could see how your concern is justified. While I know there is an opportunity to have a stroller designated as a wheelchair, you will want to
contact Disability Services to see what the parameters are for that designation. Currently there are designated squares at the entrance to each of the Theme Parks that will determine whether or not a stroller fits within the allowed dimensions.
In addition to the Disability Access Service, I would encourage you to take a look at the other ways Walt Disney World Resort helps make
Guests with disabilities experience the most Magic possible. One of the best resources available is the
Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder. This excellent resource has tips for preparing for your visit as well as tips for everything from dining to meeting Characters to finding a quiet spot if you need to regroup.
I hope you have a smooth and enjoyable visit to
Walt Disney World Resort, Megan! We’ll see you real soon.
Amy
