My son has food allergies. Are the restaurants well equipped with ingredients in each dish?

    Hi there, Brent!

Thank you for reaching out to planDisney. I am so happy to answer your question! My family has many food allergies, and I understand the importance of feeling comfortable with the available food options when vacationing.

Guests with food allergies can submit a Special Diets form ahead of time that will notify the Crew Members about any food restrictions. In my experience, it is also possible to request substitutions for select onboard items that may contain your son's allergens by calling Disney Cruise Line at least a couple of weeks before your cruise. For example, we requested allergy-friendly butter and donuts. Requests are not guaranteed and are subject to availability, but the Disney Cruise Line Cast Members do their best to ensure preferred food is available on the ship.

I also bring nonperishable items in original factory-sealed packaging to ensure my family members with food allergies have safe, preferred snacks. Just know that all items must either be consumed before returning to your home port or remain unopened. In addition to the food we brought onboard, we were able to find plenty of meal and snack options for every family member.

Disney Cruise Line offers rotational dining for your evening meal each night. Your rotational dining team typically stays with you throughout the duration of your cruise, and they quickly learn your family's food preferences and allergies. On our Disney Cruises, I discussed our meal options with our server each night for the following day. I usually pre-ordered any allergy meals to ensure we had a solid meal plan each day, including when we visited Disney Castaway Cay. I also recommend dining in the designated restaurant for lunch on embarkation day (instead of Cabanas or Marceline Market, depending on the ship), where you can discuss your son's food allergies with the dining team before ordering your meal.

Keep in mind that allergy-friendly offerings are reliant on supplier ingredient labels, and Disney Cruise Line cannot guarantee the accuracy of the contents of each food item. It is up to the Guest’s discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs. However, my family has sailed on many Disney Cruises without any allergy-related issues.

Brent, I hope this information was helpful. Do not hesitate to reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions.

    Happy sailing!
    Jen
