My son has a few lightsabers that he's built at Tatooine Traders over the past few years. They seem to be dying... Is there a way to change out the batteries? Thanks!!

    Hiya Edye!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Between my 3 kids we have quite the collection of lightsabers here at our house as well!  Here are step-by-step directions for dismantling your lightsaber and replacing the batteries!

First, loosen the end cap from the hilt (the handle of the lightsaber), and slide the sleeve off.  Then, you'll slide a ring off, followed by a larger piece.  Some of these pieces can vary depending on your son's choices for his build.  This should reveal the base of the hilt where you'll find a small fastener.  Carefully loosen the lightsaber from the hilt.  Then, using a small philips head tool, loosen the small silver fastener from the hilt battery compartment.  Finally, replace the batteries; you'll need 3 AA batteries for each lightsaber.  Do take care when opening the battery compartments, as old batteries do have a chance of leaking.

Then, you'll replace the battery compartment, tighten the fastener, and rebuild the lightsaber in reverse order.  I'd suggest doing one at a time as so not to mix up any parts.

May the Force be with you,
