My son is exactly 40 inches tall and is looking forward to going on plenty of rides,. However I'm worried that some of the height check bars at each ride differ. Is there a measuring station to have him measured and issued with a wrist band like in the uk

The attractions with height restrictions have a measuring tool posted at the entrance to the queue for that particular ride, Kelly.  There is no central location where your son can get a wristband.  I can tell you that I have been known to purchase shoes with a bit of a taller sole to make sure that my borderline kiddo had a little extra oomph when it came time to visit Disney.  I hope that helps!
