Thanks so much for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sandy! Walt Disney World Resort is the Most Magical Place on Earth, and we want to ensure your son has the best trip imaginable. I did a little research today, and I'd love to share what I found out.
As I'm sure you're already aware, Walt Disney World Resort offers
Stroller Rentals at all of their theme parks. Depending on the size of your son, the double strollers have a 100 lbs. weight limit and could be a convenient and viable option for your older Mouseketeer; however, these strollers don't recline, and they don't have any padding. An alternative would be to contact ScooterBug Rentals. They have more choices, such as the Freedom Push Chair, which provides a comfy ride for larger children up to 200 lbs (and the strollers they rent are guaranteed to fit with
Disney's stroller size guidelines). They can be reached by visiting scooterbug.com/orlando or calling (800) 726-8284.
Just this week, Walt Disney World Resort revised its policy regarding deliveries of mobility devices. Since ScooterBug is a Disney Featured Provider, they will work with the Bell Services teams at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels to manage deliveries and returns of rented strollers, so you do not need to be present. It's still an option to rent through other third-party vendors, but you'll have to arrange for a face-to-face meeting in your resort hotel lobby. Kingdom Strollers is another reputable company, and they have the Liberty Special Needs Stroller available for rent.
If your son is not able to wait comfortably in a traditional queue, consider the
Disability Access Service (DAS), which was put in place to assist Walt Disney World Resort Guests according to their unique circumstances. If you have questions about this system and whether it will fit your son's needs, feel free to reach out at Disability.services@disneyparks.com or (407) 560-2547.
Sandy, Mickey and I hope your family has a fantastic vacation next year! Please write back if there's anything else we can help you with. See ya' real soon!
