I have a son with Down syndrome. I would like to take him on a Disney cruise. Are there staff in the kids clubs who are familiar with kids with disabilities and is there enough supervision for him? He is 9 years old and quit independant.

    Hello Lisa,

I completely understand your concerns Lisa.  The youth counselors are very well trained to take care of children with many different needs.  When booking a Disney cruise, please call the cruise line directly.  Let the representative you speak with know  your son's condition so they can note it in your reservation.  When you arrive onboard, speak to the youth counselors directly.  They will be able to talk to you about the club, its activities, and how they would suit your son.  Remember, you can visit him in his youth club whenever you would like.  Many times they have family time activities for everyone to enjoy.  Personally, I have great trust in the youth counselors.  I've seen them interact with the children; some disabled, some not, and they are truly wonderful.  I think your son will have an incredibly good time.

I hope this helps, and makes you feel more comfortable about his care on a Disney cruise.  Please let me know if you need any other information.  I'm here to help.  Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel!
