Bright suns, Sethany!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for sending us this magical question! Wow, Sethany, what a memorable vacation this will be for your son and his uncle. I know I have the best memories from my trips with my family, and there is truly no better place to bring the family together. As Minnie would say, there is no better kind of magic than the one we make when we're all together!
One of my favourite things about the Disney Parks is that everyone can enjoy Disney magic, no matter who they are. The Walt Disney World Resort offers a
variety of accommodations so that everyone can enjoy the Disney magic together, and one of those services is the
Disability Access Service. You can register for this service online up to 30 days in advance or in person at any Guest Relations locations. Indeed, Disney now offers a
live video-chat service which allows you to register your son for the Disability Access Service from the comfort of your own home, so your son won't have to stand in line when he does get to the theme parks. If you are unfamiliar with the service, DAS allows the registered person and their party to select a return time for the attraction of their choice and to avoid waiting in line. Two types of selections can be made: in advance and on the day of your visit. However, it is important to remember that
Advance selections cannot be made within two days of your visit, so I suggest booking them after your video call. These selections also cannot be modified.
To register online, first, make sure that your son and his uncle each have a
My Disney Experience profile. Then, they will have to be linked to each other's
Family & Friends Lists to make plans together, such as booking return times for their favourite attractions. They can connect by clicking on "My Family & Friends" in the My Disney Experience tab online and then on "Add a Guest" at the bottom. Select "I'll enter their name and age" and make sure to put the email associated with the other person's My Disney Experience account. Then, they will have to accept your request and voilà! Both profiles will be able to make reservations together. If you decide to make Advance selections, also make sure that your son and his uncle each have their valid theme park admission and
theme park reservations linked to their My Disney Experience accounts by checking in the "My Plans" section.
I hope this was helpful, Sethany, and that your son and his uncle will have the best day ever on their upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any other questions in the time leading up to their trip, or if you would like to plan your own magical vacation, please don't hesitate to reach back out. You and me, we're in a club now!
May the force be with you,
Ariane
