My son and I have different last names. Will this be a problem when boarding our cruise? His father will not be with us. Do I need to bring a notarized letter from his father or anything of that nature? Thank you.

    Welcome, Sarah!

A summer Disney Cruise Line vacation sounds like a wonderful mother-and-son getaway. I know my son loves when our summer vacation includes a voyage on a Disney ship. There is something for everyone onboard and plenty to do together!

Disney Cruise Line does not require legal documentation from parents who are divorced or if one of the parents is not traveling. As long as you are your son's parent or legal guardian, no additional forms need to be completed to sail with him. When you check in at the port, everyone will need to present a passport or birth certificate. Guests 16 years of age and older will also need a photo ID.

Sarah, I hope this information helps put your mind at ease. I can’t wait for you to experience all the fantastic entertainment and activities onboard. My son enjoys watching the first-run movies in the theater, meeting his favorite Disney pals, and eating unlimited soft-serve by the pool. The Youth Clubs are amazing! While your son is enjoying some time defending the galaxy or mastering the mystic arts with Doctor Strange, you can recharge by the adult-exclusive Quiet Cove Pool. A Disney Cruise is the perfect vacation for Guests of ALL ages, and you and your son will make magical memories to last a lifetime.

If you have any more questions before you set sail, please stop by planDisney and ask. We are always delighted to help!

Ahoy! Just like Moana, I feel the irresistible call of the sea. I think the best vacation is aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship – thankfully, my family agrees. Whether savoring gelato in Italy, snorkeling in Mexico, or basking in the sea breeze on deck, each destination fills us with memories to last a lifetime. I look forward to helping your family plan a Disney Cruise Line adventure brimming with cherished moments!
